We are looking for a Housekeeping Supervisor to lead our team of room attendants and ensure we provide excellent customer service. Housekeeping Supervisor responsibilities include organizing employee shifts, training and motivating team members and checking private and public areas for tidiness. To be successful in this role, you should have a good understanding of sanitation regulations and team management abilities. Ultimately, you will help ensure our daily housekeeping operations run smoothly and that guests are satisfied.


Other cleaning positions are also available within the group for less experienced house keepers.


Responsibilities
  • Train housekeepers on cleaning and maintenance tasks
  • Oversee staff on a daily basis
  • Check rooms and common areas, including stairways and lounge areas, for cleanliness
  • Schedule shifts and arrange for replacements in cases of absence
  • Establish and educate staff on cleanliness, tidiness and hygiene standards
  • Motivate team members and resolve any issues that occur on the job
  • Respond to customer complaints and special requests
  • Monitor and replenish cleaning products stock including floor cleaner, bleach and rubber gloves
  • Participate in large cleaning projects as required
  • Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation policies in all areas

Requirements

Job tasks and responsibilities

  • Assigns workers their duties and inspects work for conformance to prescribed standards of cleanliness.
  • Investigates complaints regarding housekeeping service and equipment, and takes corrective action.
  • Obtains list of rooms to be cleaned immediately and list of prospective check-outs or discharges to prepare work assignments.
  • Coordinates work activities among departments.
  • Conducts orientation training and in-service training to explain policies, work procedures, and to demonstrate use and maintenance of equipment.
  • Inventories stock to ensure adequate supplies.
  • Evaluates records to forecast department personnel requirements.
  • Makes recommendations to improve service and ensure more efficient operation.
  • Prepares reports concerning room occupancy, payroll, and department expenses.
  • Performs cleaning duties in cases of emergency or staff shortage.
  • Examines building to determine need for repairs or replacement of furniture or equipment, and makes recommendations to management.
  • Attends staff meetings to discuss company policies and patrons' complaints.
  • Issues supplies and equipment to workers.
  • Establishes standards and procedures for work of housekeeping staff.
  • Advises manager, desk clerk, or admitting personnel of rooms ready for occupancy.
  • Records data regarding work assignments, personnel actions, and time cards, and prepares periodic reports.

Skills and experience

  • Exeprience in a hospitality environment with a minimum of 2 years experience
  • Housekeeping experience within a 4-5 star hotel preffered
  • Strong work ethic and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to think on your feet and adaptbility
  • Work experience as a Housekeeping Supervisor or similar role
  • Hands-on experience with cleaning and maintenance tasks for large organizations
  • Ability to use industrial cleaning equipment and products
  • Excellent organizational and team management skills
  • Stamina to handle the physical demands of the job
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends
