Universal Biosensors (UBI) is a world leading, publicly listed Australian company (ASX:UBI) which develops, manufactures and sells biosensors for use in several industries around the world. Our biosensor technology has been used in more than 10 billion measurements for blood glucose monitoring and blood coagulation in diabetes and coagulation patients worldwide. Recently, we have pivoted our technology into the wine industry with our global launch of SENTIA last month. In addition, we continue to develop new applications for our technology within human health, veterinarian and food amp; agriculture.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven individual to join our team as a Ramp;D Scientist on an ongoing basis to contribute to the delivery of our product pipeline.
This opportunity joins in expanding our Ramp;D Department through effective development of our portfolio of medical and non-medical point-of-use devices.
The role will consist of (but not limited to) the following activities:
- Contributing to identifying future opportunities.
- Ensuring the application of sound scientific principles in your work.
- Liaising with Quality Control to ensure the efficient transfer of design
- Designing verification and validation activities, including documentation and testing.
- Communicating both verbally and in written form the work performed, results obtained and the interpretations inferred, both internally and externally
- Ensuring laboratory data are accurate and recorded in accordance with GxP requirements.
- Anticipating and addressing problems or risks in experimental procedures.
- Maintaining a sound knowledge and awareness of safety regulations and operating procedures within the laboratory environment.
Requirements
The following skills are considered necessary:
- Strong technical and analytical skills to solve complex problems.
- Ability to plan effective series of experiments to answer Scientific questions
- A Bachelor's degree or greater in a relevant Chemistry or Biochemistry field
- Experience working in a commercial environment in Development and particularly Verification and Validation
- Experience working in wine-makers laboratory and/or wine science qualification
The following skills are considered desirable but not necessary:
- Demonstrated creativity with the ability to discover and invent new things.
- Highly developed problem-solving skills.
- A second tertiary qualification (Masters or PhD)
- Significant experience with practical laboratory skills, particularly relating to assay testing and development.
- Good organisational, observational and communication skills.
- Ability to write summary reports and presentations on complex series of data and draw appropriate conclusions, for internal and external audiences.
- Prior work experience with exposure to regulated environments or quality systems
