An exciting and newly created position has been introduced to our Strategic Sourcing team. This is a critical role to advance the Packaging Innovation and Sustainability Strategy, working with internal stakeholders to identify packaging innovation opportunities across our categories.

You will contribute to Marley Spoon’s success by effectively developing and leading sourcing strategies, effectively managing suppliers and internal networks (Sourcing, Purchasing, Quality, Safety amp; Sustainability, Marketing, and Finance teams) to deliver future and best in class performance for the Packaging and Consumables spend. Manage all packaging and consumable materials categories and sustainable sourcing plans, in a centralised procurement structure in Alexandria NSW for 3 fulfilment centres in Australia. Consistently delivers measurable and strategic goals to enable competitive advantage to bottom-line and top-line company growth, and corporate social responsibility leadership. You are responsible for building a sustainable supply chain for a waste-free world. This is an individual contributor role within the Sourcing Team, reporting to the Director of Culinary and Strategic Sourcing.

Requirements

  • Innovate, create, drive and execute packaging sustainability projects through investigations with partners into new more sustainable packaging materials
  • Continuously look to new technologies and partnerships to drive best-in-class sustainable packaging
  • Build business cases to drive investment in sustainable packaging design and sourcing
  • Meet our packaging sustainability goals
  • Further, enhance our customer unboxing experience and own-range packaging visual appeal
  • Mitigate risk in the portfolios to ensure service and quality to the business.
  • Manage the contract life cycle of packaging and non-food consumable categories as assigned.
  • Drive commercial tenders through RFP, RFQ.
  • Manage reusable packaging contracts with suppliers, including, onboarding, education and scheme compliance
  • Show strong knowledge of key industry players, competitors, technology and market dynamics.
  • Draft and negotiate successful supplier agreements.
  • Develop new effective business and professional relationships with strategic suppliers and industry players.
  • Gather and analyze data to identify tactical and strategic methods to improve service level and/or reduce operational costs, waste in the assigned category.
  • Manage and measure suppliers for continuous performance and improvement.
  • Effectively manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Independently solve problems and make decisions for primary and strategic execution and tactical issues within the relevant portfolio of projects and or processes.
  • Ensure our product packaging complies with all local environmental regulations and internal requirements.
  • Effectively collaborate with cross-departmental teams, strategic sourcing peers, coordinating with the production planners, quality managers, sustainability manager, demand planners, and inventory managers, operational excellence, marketing, brand and finance and leadership.
  • Demonstrate and maintain a deep understanding of packaging machines and their integration of packaging material in the food industry
  • Strategic focused in an FMCG / Ultra-Fresh environment specialising in packaging and non-food Procurement.
  • Firefight issues and solve issues which arise keeping every day different

Experience required:

  • 8+ years of experience in category management, strategic sourcing, or procurement with a strong emphasis on food packaging
  • MCIPS preferred, or University degree in any discipline and relevant to Packaging technology qualification and experience.
  • Ideally ANZ experience in a global/regional context
  • Ambitious, entrepreneurial and data-driven team player with high integrity, strong knowledge and interest in market analysis, sourcing category strategy, supplier relationship management, supplier continuous improvement programs, and lean Initiatives
  • In-depth knowledge of packaging components, structural design, importation of material
