Marley Spoon is bringing delightful, market fresh and easy cooking back to the people. Our chefs create inspiring and mouth watering recipes every week. Our customers select what they would like to cook and we deliver the recipes and all the ingredients they need. We use technology to reinvent the food supply chain while reducing unethical food waste and directly connecting consumers with quality producers. In order to achieve this, we are solving challenging problems in taste profiling, behaviour prediction and real-time logistics.

But in the end it's simple: We started Marley Spoon because we love cooking and we love eating.

We need someone for Sydney’s purchasing team who will report to the Regional Supply Manager. The purchasing team is expected to provide excellent customer service to our internal stakeholders (timeliness, commitment and proactivity) where they work cooperatively with shared purpose and promote collaboration.

The purchasing team serve the best interests in our overall professional purchasing practices and act ethically, and with integrity, discretion, honesty and professionalism


Expectations of the role:
  • Ordering and buying products to cater to production requirements across various food categories (Meat, poultry, fresh produce, dry goods, etc.).
  • Support the end-to-end food supply chain by driving service, quality, and continuous improvements.
  • Responsible for the purchasing process across all the categories according to the recipes and product profiles.
  • Daily communication with suppliers, production, and operations team to ensure seamless end-end processes and constant improvement to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Expected to provide excellent customer service to Marley Spoon stakeholders and promote collaboration within internal stakeholders.
  • Building and developing supporting tools with a major focus on forecasting and replenishment models for the purchasing department.
  • Build and maintain a diversified pool of tools used by purchasing stakeholders: NAV, Excel, Google Sheets, BI tools, Platform app builders (e.g. Zoho Creator).
  • Responsible for developing dashboards and reporting tools for the purchasing department.
  • Gather, manipulate, and transform data from different sources to generate reports and improve the efficiency and accuracy of several workflows for the purchasing team.
  • Work with internal developers and product owners for enhancements in Microsoft Dynamic NAV (ERP tool) and involve in the development of user manuals.
  • Analyze historical data to optimize the buying process for purchasing.
  • Responsible for ordering and forecasting based on predictions of the customer orders for Marley Spoon and source the required goods for production.
  • Analyze usage and wastage costs to develop strategies to improve utilization of products purchased.
  • Track and maintain various reports like Supplier scorecards, Supplier on-time deliveries, etc.
  • Identify scope, design, create documents and processes aimed at optimizing the production flow, maintaining the processes and documentation to achieve global sourcing and quality assurance.
  • Work with different teams (Operations, Data, Procurement, Production, Finance, Supply Chain amp; Logistics) to increase the business value of purchasing from concept design to implementation and adoption by key stakeholders in their critical processes.
  • Support with Invoice approvals, KPIs tracking, NAV admin tasks, etc.
  • Support, train and advise other teams and colleagues on analytics inquiries, driving operational excellence across the board.
  • Analysis of inventory and stock, including analyzing detailed records of inventory used to ensure business processes are executed as designed and are achieving desired outcomes.

Requirements

  • Excellent computer skills (Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint).
  • Proficient in relevant software.
  • Critical thinking and negotiation skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to develop and plan efficient ordering processes, based on MOQ (Minimum order quantities), lead times and shelf life.
  • Ability to work as part of a small but collaborative team.
  • Should take ownership of categories, including aspects like waste, leftovers, emergency purchasing etc.
  • Coordinate with inventory amp; Repacking teams, management, and stockroom as required.
  • Assess quality of stock received and escalate any discrepancies to suppliers and management
