How you’ll make an impact.
Xero’s Finance Team partners closely with senior executives across the company to lead critical finance and operational initiatives covering all areas of business from planning to capital allocation.
Working as part of the CFO executive leadership team, the Executive GM - Strategic Finance will manage the financial drivers of our vision and strategy. Driving strategic business partnerships across the business with our executive leaders and ensuring that Xero’s long-term planning process and operational rigor are world class.
Based in Sydney, San Francisco or Denver you will head up Xero’s long-term planning, and work closely with the Strategy, Corporate Development and Partnership team, the Operations team, and the business to ensure that we drive towards our long term financial model.
This role will require a strong understanding of the Global SaaS market, a strategic mindset and a hands on, commercial approach.What you'll do.
  • Strategic Financial Leadership - work with the Strategy, Corporate Development and Partnership LT and the Xero team to ensure the right financial calculations, processes and systems are in place to drive to our long term financial plan, including investment frameworks.
  • People Leadership - coach and lead a team of global GMs/Directors to operate as a high performing and highly engaged cohesive senior leadership team.
  • Board Engagement - Supporting the CFO in communicating with the Board on progress towards strategic goals and objectives.
  • Financial Planning - Leading and driving the financial strategy and long-term planning process to ensure the alignment of our investments to the strategic outcomes required for the business, and providing data driven analysis to evaluate options and recommend the best option to deliver on strategic outcomes.
  • Operational Excellence - Partnering with and assisting the Chief Financial Officer in managing team operations and proactively suggesting and leading the implementation of new approaches that continue to make the team more connected, efficient and effective. Investing in the team’s core skills to ensure they’re delivering against financial objectives and continuously improving the consistency and quality of reporting.
  • Operational Forecasting - responsibility for Long term forecasting and valuation model, ensuring the agreed financial hurdles are being met across the business to drive us to our growth aspirations. This includes the maintenance of the 3,5, and 10 year company modelling.
  • Strategic Partnership - Partner with our functional business units to provide strategic financial and business leadership through financial modeling and business casing to ensure we’re working towards the long term financial plan. This will be achieved through a close partnership with the EGM Financial Performance, and the EGM Group Strategy. Advising on the financial implications of management decisions, mergers and acquisitions and broader investments by the business, and working closely with the Strategy team on the ongoing reporting, in particular the tracking of ROI.
  • Xero Evangelism - senior ambassador and champion for Xero.
What you’ll bring.
The successful candidate will possess more than 10 years of senior finance leadership at an Executive or senior GM level within FPamp;A in a growing SaaS or software development environment and ideally be MBA, CFA and/or CPA qualified. Your experience in supporting the execution of strategy and both organic and inorganic investment will be underpinned by your budgetary and financial management expertise as well as applied knowledge of financial concepts such as IRR and marginal contribution.
This role will require a forward thinking, analytical and problem solving mindset with a desire to constantly improve the status quo. Critical will strong leadership skills with the ability to partner effectively at all levels. You will be adept in ambiguous situations, flexible and comfortable making decisions using available data points that may be limited or imperfect.
