The Team
The Finance team’s mission is to protect and serve Canva and its key stakeholders; that is protecting Canva from external pressures and risks whilst balancing the need to best serve our teams. The vision Is for Canva to be recognised and commended by its peers and stakeholders as having a world-class finance team.
As Canva continues on its rapid trajectory of growth, its regulatory obligations are becoming increasingly complex and the need for insights into financial performance greater. As the tax team’s duties and activities continue to develop and expand to support the growth of the business across multiple geographies there is now a requirement for a dedicated Tax Manager, Australia to support the external reporting and compliance activities.
What you'll do:
- Oversee APAC tax and global transfer pricing and transparency compliance
- Oversee global tax effect accounting and reporting
- Ensure appropriate controls and processes exist to facilitate the successful completion and timely lodgement of compliance within your accountability
- Provide training to global tax function related to Australian tax, transfer pricing and tax effect accounting
- Working closely with Canva’s external tax service providers on tax related workstreams
- Act as a valued team member and business partner to key business segments
- Champion the implementation and use of technology and automation within the tax function that can scale and grow with Canva and reduce the amount of administrative work for the team
- Providing ad-hoc tax advice, with a focus on Australia and transfer pricing technical, to the Head of Tax, CFO and Directors around key strategic initiatives and growth into new markets
What we're looking for:
- 6-8 years experience aligned to Australian Tax and Income Tax requirements in a professional services and/or in-house context
- Strong business acumen with problem-solving creativity and commercial judgement
- CA/CPA qualified or equivalent qualification
- Highly organised with the ability to work under reasonable pressure and within set deadlines
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills
- Self motivated with a desire to learn
- Experience working in the tech sector or an equally fast growing, ever-changing environment
- Proactivity when it comes to process improvement, technology adoption and automation
