About the Ingredient Studio Creative Content Team
The Ingredient Studio is responsible for Canva’s content library and all the tools we use to ingest, sort and produce content.
The Content Team’s mission is to make sure that the content in Canva is the best overall library of resources available. Its mission is to create gorgeous, high-quality, highly usable, on trend and relevant content to fulfill a user’s need and to become the go-to place for all things related to design, for both our inhouse designers and our users.
About the role
You will lead the elements team with an aim to create the world’s highest quality collection of illustrations and design graphics. Working with a talented team of product managers, animation, motion, illustration and graphic designers, the content you help create will be used by millions of people around the world.
Set the trends that people follow to communicate ideas. You’ll be responsible for the creative direction of Canva owned illustrated and vector based content, and will be researching, ideating and articulating ways to elevate our library and teams.
You’ll work closely with the template and product teams to understand their roadmaps and ensure that our content evolves and leverages new features. You’ll oversee and refine our content style guides; and take initiative to raise the bar on quality, and propose and implement strategies to improve workflow and process.
What you'll be doing
- Understand and respond to team feedback with accuracy and empathy, developing content and briefs that will help to make them successful
- Work with the Studio Manager and manage your team in order to execute jobs successfully on deadline and to brief
- Provide feedback to team members with sensitivity and honesty, helping them to grow and develop their skills
- Own curation and quality assurance for illustrated and vector content
- Work closely with the team developing Canva’s product and ensure that our content evolves with and encourages our users to make great designs
- Research competitors, trends, patterns and best-practises, visual/interaction design inspiration, user and business insights
- Ensure the team & vendors create with usability requirements in mind
- Produce and integrate effective & efficient creative practices
- Support the team’s scalability through documentation, process improvement, interviewing and hiring.
Experience you'll need
- 5+ years experience as an Senior Creative or Art Director in the design/creative field creating a diverse range of content, with illustration & vector focus.
- Experience leading a small team of creatives, and providing professional support and development for junior and senior designers
- A love for illustrative content, with experience in production processes, technical treatments and the ability to prepare files for multiple platforms.
- A passion for writing simple and clear briefs, with demonstrated experience in commissioning videographers and other creatives
- A strong portfolio demonstrating your passion for creating high quality and diverse content
- The confidence to try new things, and a passion for big ideas
- The ability to brief creatives effectively to create beautiful and quality content
- The ability to work collaboratively in a creative team environment;
- Diligence to hit deadlines, and offer suggestions to streamline and improve team processes.
