About content & discovery

As an integrated design platform, Canva contains over 60 million pieces of content: from templates to photos, icons, and fonts. The Content & Discovery Group work on the end to end creation and discovery experience of content including surfacing content to millions of users. The Content and Discovery super-group consists of 5 groups, 30+ teams and 200+ individuals who work together towards two common goals:

To bring every ingredient needed to create any design into Canva’s platform by working with a diverse range of template designers, illustrators, photographers and other content producers. This includes templates, photos, illustrations, videos, audio, graphics and more.

To surface this content strategically to maximise engagement in the Canva platform, and to surface this content selectively through Google to acquire new users searching for design and template solutions. This means building search and discovery features in the app, building SEO marketplaces and scaling these products internationally.

You goals

  • Build and implement an operational strategy. You’ll spend time getting familiar with the group product and growth goals, and lead and propose the operational strategy to support those goals. 
  • Build and implement a resourcing strategy. As well as getting across the current workforce, you’ll map out a 3-6-12 month resourcing strategy and lead hiring efforts for your group. 
  • Start delivering results. You’ll roll up your sleeves and start working with teams to deliver results immediately, working collaboratively on the highest impact opportunities from operationalizing workflows to maximising team effectiveness.

What you'll be doing

  • Map out the current projects and workforce within the group, build and execute a strategy to maximise operational efficiency.
  • Support product managers, designers and SEO specialists on operational planning and execution to achieve growth and product goals. 
  • Identify team needs with regard to resourcing, process, tools, documentation, asset management, etc.
  • Manage group budgets and resource planning. 
  • Manage team operating rhythm, including communication structures, team cadence and workflows.
  • Build and execute a strategy for seamless contractor onboarding, engagement and efficiency.
  • Build out a resourcing plan and lead hiring efforts for the group. 
  • Work closely with a Content & Design Operations Lead to align your group’s strategy and goals to holistic systems and goals.
  • Build a strategy for contractor happiness & engagement, designed to scale to global expansion. 
  • Oversee existing global operations teams working across several high impact initiatives. 
  • Play a lead role in aligning and influencing relevant stakeholders across teams and specialities, facilitating and building out best practice workflows. 

Experience you'll need

  • 6+ years of Project Management or Operations experience in related field with creative studio, agency or tech company
  • Experience prioritising, managing and tracking multiple projects simultaneously with the ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Traffic management experience. Able to talk to project management tools, resource planning and digital asset management with experience building processes and systems for scale
  • Proven experience of effectively managing large-scale projects from brief through to delivery
  • A bias for action, constantly striving to get things done. You have a strong sense of urgency when it comes to unblocking teams 
  • Truly self-motivated with a desire to constantly learn, develop and grow in the role. 
  • A keen eye for detail and a strong desire to uphold high standar
