The Finance Group’s mission is to protect and serve Canva and its key stakeholders; that is protecting Canva from external pressures and risks whilst balancing the need to best serve our teams. The mission of the Corporate Accounting team is to ensure that financial information withstands external scrutiny in compliance with all applicable regulations and standards.

As the Canva business grows, we are exposed to increasing levels of financial reporting and compliance requirements. With the expanding operations across the world to manage, we need a Corporate Reporting Manager who can develop best practice external reporting processes and build on the accounting infrastructure that is required of a large corporation. 

About the role 
In this highly critical and visible role, you will work closely with the Corporate Accounting Lead (located in Sydney HQ) to serve as the subject matter expert for global corporate reporting including US statutory filing requirements.

You will be the central point of contact for managing these requirements, collaborating closely with the Corporate Accounting and other Finance teams to achieve these goals. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

What you'll do:

  • Develop and execute Canva’s strategy to meet our growing reporting obligations, including building out a robust corporate reporting infrastructure required to support a fast-paced, high-growth company, focusing on compliant reporting methodologies and disclosures
  • Providing a deep source of knowledge on best practice corporate reporting requirements of supervisory and regulatory authorities 
  • Collaborating closely with the Finance team and management to steer the financial reporting cadences towards quarterization
  • Preparing and coordinating workpapers supporting the disclosures and financial information for corporate filings and financial statement pro formas
  • Collating and maintaining all relevant documentation throughout the process from advisors, auditors and management

We'd love it if you had:

  • A strong understanding and practical knowledge of corporate reporting rules and requirements with past experience in a public regulatory environment highly regarded
  • CPA required and at least 5 years of relevant professional experience in public and industry accounting
  • Experience developing and maintaining the systems, processes and controls involved in preparing annual and quarterly financial information and disclosures 
  • Working knowledge of reporting tools and filing with supervisory and regulatory authorities such as the US SEC will be highly regarded
  • A background in technical accounting and financial information with and understanding of the relationship with non-GAAPs and the preparation of other non-financial information
  • A problem-solving mindset to always make complex things simple. Thrive in a hyper-growth, agile environment and be adaptable to change
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to rally various stakeholders and teams
  • Ability to balance attention to detail and managing competing priorities, directing the team to achieve deliverables 
  • Proactive, hands-on approach. We are a team of team players!
  • Experience working with team members based in different locations and countries
