About the role:
The Asset Accountant plays a crucial role in accurately accounting for the organisation's expanding asset portfolio, ensuring accuracy in reporting to both internal and external stakeholders, and functioning as a vital business partner in asset management. Being a proficient technical accountant, the Asset Accountant adeptly handles the intricate accounting, settlement, and reporting aspects of the organisation's assets, while also being hands-on in issue resolution. The role delivers value through delivering timely, accurate and relevant information to the key decision makers.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Manage fixed asset register entries including additions, retirements, transfers, and depreciation.
  • Compile monthly reconciliations of fixed asset-related balances for the balance sheet and create quarterly schedules documenting asset movements.
  • Prepare fixed asset schedules, management reports, and provide support for quarterly forecasts and annual budget development.
  • Monitor and promptly address outstanding Work in Progress balances to ensure timely asset clearance, analysing depreciation movements and offering period-end commentaries on assets.
  • Collaborate with project teams on daily transactional tasks and inquiries, perform reconciliation and month-end tasks as directed, and support continuous improvement initiatives within the finance team.
  • Maintain an investigative and analytical mindset with keen attention to detail, identifying opportunities for enhancing business performance and assisting with project work and ad-hoc duties as needed.

About you:

This role would be suitable for a candidate who has a Finance, Accounting or Commerce degree who is CA/CPA qualified, or actively pursuing.

  • Proven work exposure in Fixed Asset accounting and proficiency in ERP accounting systems, particularly Microsoft Excel.
  • Possess strong organisational skills, capable of managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Approach tasks with an investigative and analytical mindset, ensuring accuracy and completeness in outcomes.
  • Have experience leading process improvement projects and a track record of strong reporting.

Essential:

Australian Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a NV1 Security Clearance.
