The Purpose:

The Senior Manager, Technology Governance, plays a critical role in aligning technology initiatives with business objectives. This position combines expertise in IT governance, strategy, performance measurement, business value, and cost optimization. The successful candidate will lead the development and execution of technology investment plans, ensuring efficient resource allocation and strategic alignment with organisational objectives.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

IT Governance:

  • Establish and maintain governance frameworks, policies, and procedures to guide technology decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define governance structures and accountability mechanisms.

IT Strategy:

  • Develop and communicate the technology vision, mission, and strategic goals.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align technology strategy with overall business strategy.
  • Demonstrate alignment between technology and business product roadmaps.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and assess their potential impact on the organization.

Performance Measurement:

  • Define key performance indicators (KPIs) for technology initiatives.
  • Monitor project performance, track milestones, and assess outcomes.
  • Regularly report on progress to stakeholders and recommend corrective actions as needed.
  • Leverage frameworks such as the Technology Business Management (TBM) and FinOps frameworks to provide transparency over the cost, consumption and performance of technology services.

Business Value:

  • Work closely with business units to understand their needs and priorities.
  • Evaluate technology investments based on their potential value to the organization.
  • Partner with finance to accurately track the project portfolio expenditure including forecasting and accruals.
  • Conduct cost-benefit analyses and prioritize projects accordingly.
  • Identify specific metrics to measure benefits against planned investment outcomes.

Cost Optimisation:

  • Identify opportunities to optimize technology costs without compromising quality.
  • Implement cost-saving measures, such as resource allocation adjustments or process improvements.
  • Monitor budget adherence and recommend adjustments as necessary.
  • Supports the Enterprise Resource Management Capability to provide transparency over Technology Resource Allocation improving cost efficiencies.

Collaboration and Leadership:

  • Work closely with internal stakeholders, including IT, finance, and operations teams.

In order for you to be successful in the role, you’ll have:

  • 5 years + experience in technology finance, investment, strategy or similar fields.
  • Partner with finance to accurately track the project portfolio expenditure including forecasting and accruals.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate business needs into actionable technology strategies.
  • Working knowledge of cloud services including IaaS, PaaS and SaaS.
  • Knowledge of IT governance and management frameworks such as ITIL, COBIT or TOGAF.
  • Reviews, develops and enhances business cases to demonstrate the value of technology investments.
  • Ensures that all stakeholders are aware of the strategic management approach and timetables with support and guidance for stakeholders.
