About the role

As part of our Outcomes team in Central Highlands Wimmera Division, you will lead the team delivering services in one of our residential homes in Ballarat. You will work alongside people we support, their families/guardians and staff to ensure that the people we support receive the highest level of care. 

You will work with an incredibly supportive, knowledgeable, and committed Operations Manager who is there to support you. In addition, you will be supported and coached by our Practice Quality and Safeguards team, who are experts in Zero Tolerance, human rights-based Positive Behaviour Support, and a person-centred approach.

This home provides accommodation for five supported people with high physical needs and complex communication needs.

The building provides accommodation for five single bedrooms and one single bathroom with ensuite, two living areas, kitchen, storeroom, two bathrooms and an office/sleep over room. The home has wide passageways, the front and bedroom doorways are wide to allow for wheelchair clients.

The house has a generous back yard; there is an outdoor covered area with concreted floor and brick pathing from house to this area. It has a veranda along the length of it providing an alternative outdoor area with outdoor furniture for the comfort of supported people.

Each bedroom has over heading tracking for hoist as does the main bathroom and one living area. Fixed ceiling hoist are used in bathroom and living area and portable hoist units for the bedrooms.

Shift work is required with early morning and late nights and weekends with a sleep over model of support.

Employment, salary and benefits are in accordance with the Disability Services Enterprise Agreement (Victoria) 2018 to 2022 Classification Level DDSO3A.

Requirements

What you’ll do

  • Supervise the operations of the Supported Independent Living service with regular reporting to the Operations Manager
  • Manage all aspects of team performance including rosters, performance management, records management, quality, and compliance
  • Lead and plan support for people with disabilities within their home and community, based on the goals of individual support plans
  • Support initiatives that allow for individual choice, control and independence within their shared home environment
  • Advocate within the broader community for inclusion, participation, and respect for rights for supported people
  • Convey information to people we support and their families to help meet daily needs and plan support for future requirements
  • Administer medication treatments, therapies or seek assistance according to protocols

You’ll have

  • Must hold or be working towards an Advanced Diploma of Community Sector Management or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience and knowledge in the field of disability and ability to apply policies and processes.
  • Specialised and contemporary understanding of disability and an ability to apply this theoretical knowledge to client support.
  • Understanding and familiarity with NDIS funding and planning processes
  • Understanding of person-centred active support, positive behaviour support and its implementation within a diverse team.
  • Passionate about supporting people with mental health and intellectual disability
  • Knowledge of and skill with coaching, supervision, and planning practices.
  • Competencies using Microsoft Office software programs
