We are now looking to expand our impact by incorporating gamification into our learning experience. To achieve this, we're seeking a creative and passionate Game Designer to help achieve this vision. We expect around 20 hours per week over 6 months where the first weeks will be more intense as you define the vision for gamification, and then other weeks will be less intense as you wait for developers to build and test results to come through.

As a contract Game Designer supporting a product squad you will:

  • Craft a gamification vision.
  • Design game mechanics and models that will help enhance the learning experience.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, educators, and developers to implement, A/B test and iterate on these mechanics.
  • Analyse student data to understand behaviour and learning outcomes, using these insights to optimise the gamification elements.
  • Contribute to a culture of creativity and fun for making a positive impact in education.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in game design, with a portfolio demonstrating expertise in gamification.
  • Proven experience at an online game or product.
  • Ability to develop mathematical models for progression and reward systems.

  • Critical thinking skills and a strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with a development team.

Bonus skills:

  • A passion for education and a belief in the power of games to enhance learning.
  • An understanding of the education market, learning theories and game based learning.

Benefits

  • Vibrant and creative Surry Hills office or ability to work from home fully remote
  • Relaxed and friendly work environment
  • Make an impact on students across the world
