About the Role:

The Laboratory Operations Associate is a key member of the Loam Facilities amp; Infrastructure team. In this role you will oversee the operation of Loam's Orange based laboratories, ensuring they are safe, efficient, and ready to support groundbreaking research.

This role involves managing laboratory materials, implementing safety protocols, coordinating equipment maintenance and ensuring compliance with relevant standards. Your efforts will directly enable our scientists to focus on their innovative work, making you an integral part of our labs delivering current and future scientific advancements.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the smooth running of Loam’s Orange based laboratories
  • Partner closely with Loam’s Global Health amp; Safety Manager to roll out new operational processes and protocols.
  • Oversee the procurement, storage, and disposal of chemicals, adhering to both external and internal guidelines.
  • Manage the procurement and inventory of lab materials, consumables, and equipment.
  • Conduct regular compliance checks, audits, and continuous monitoring of lab equipment.
  • Handle the maintenance and servicing of lab equipment to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Support the organisation laboratory spaces to maintain their readiness for use.
  • Ensure effective communication across all levels regarding safety, operational procedures, and lab updates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, ideally within a scientific discipline
  • Entry level experience in a scientific or technical role, with a solid understanding of laboratory environments and safety protocols.
  • Strong awareness of health and safety regulations in laboratory settings, with a commitment to upholding safety practices.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills for managing inventory, scheduling, and equipment maintenance.
  • Effective communication skills for team collaboration, training sessions, and operational updates.
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment and systems for procurement and inventory management; adaptable to new technologies.
  • Proactive problem-solving approach to identify and address issues in the lab, ensuring smooth operation.
  • Interest in contributing to strategies for laboratory growth and improvement, with a focus on innovation and excellence.
