About the role:
Joining our high-performing, close-knit team, you will be responsible for the product’s user experience and success. You are focused on actual customers and the value a product can bring to those customers by solving the right problems. You create value through design within the constraints of the business. They also actively promote cultural acceptance of Product Design best practices as applicable to Transmax.
Day to day will include:
- Maintaining a deep understanding of product strategy and contribute to its continuous improvement and impact on relevant strategic initiatives.
- Continuously collaborate with product managers and engineers from discovery through to delivery.
- Incorporate regular testing of designs to incrementally validate and refine ideas and uncover new insights.
- Developing holistic user experience designs by thinking about the customer’s journey over time as they interact with the product and the company as a whole.
- Creating low and high-fidelity prototypes as a means for communicating ideas and soliciting feedback using the most appropriate tool(s) for the task.
- Incorporating both interaction design (e.g. underlying conceptual models, workflows, and control layouts to manipulate such concepts) and visual design (e.g. composition, typography, visual brand) during product development.
- Advocating for the product strategy and associated roadmaps both internally and with key external partners.
- Representing the company by visiting customers to solicit feedback on products and performance.
- Facilitating workshops to tease out objectives, understand business requirements, identify problems to be solved, and brainstorm solutions.
- Contributing to the community of best practices for product design at Transmax, improving our tools, processes, and educating others on design concepts as well as the importance of good design.
- Coaching and mentoring other designers in their discovery, design and delivery.
- Immerse yourself in the complex and interesting domain of Intelligent Transport Systems, with the drive to engage with our users to become a subject matter expert over time.
Requirements
About You:
We are looking for a highly skilled Product Designer, experienced within a fast-paced technical product environment. You are passionate about your craft and championing user needs. You will display exceptional communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to build rapport, influence and collaborate with all levels of staff (both internal and external) as well as the ability to manage conflicting priorities effectively.
You will have:
- Tertiary qualified or relevant work experience in Business, Law or a related degree.
- 4+ years of experience in an Enterprise SaaS product design role
- Self-organising and passionate about product design, while working in an empowered team model
- Proven ability to engage and collaborate with engineers, other designers and product managers to get the best outcome for the customer and Transmax.
- Experience working in Agile teams within SCRUM framework while iteratively delivering and discovering in parallel.
- Exceptional communication skills
- Verbal - Capable of facilitating workshops, interacting confidently with stakeholders/senior leadership/customers, and using storytelling to communicate effectively
- Written - Clear and concise written communication for sharing ideas and creating alignment.
- Ability to think long-term and influence product strategy with knowledge gleaned from user research.
- Comfortable leading people through highly ambiguous challenges to build a shared understanding of problem/s and explore the advantages/disadvantages of potential solutions.
- Willingness to help improve product design practices with the goal of increasing product design productivity across the organisation.
