We're looking for a PrincipalCloud Engineer to join our IT team and help us build efficient and scalable cloud solutions for Pepperstone. As a senior member of the Pepperstone IT team, you will provide technical expertise in cloud and lead the design, development and maintenance of our cloud based infrastructure.

Working closely with the Cloud Engineering Team Lead in Melbourne, the Principal Cloud Engineer will be the go-to person for all things related to cloud technology and CI/CD Pipelines. Your role will involve guiding and supporting other engineers, as well as promoting the use of best practices across the organization.

We value open communication and teamwork, and your contributions will be crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of our cloud infrastructure.

Your day-day responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Delivering on requirements efficiently, ensuring timely achievement of agreed outcomes
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and implement cloud solutions that offer resilient architectures, scalability, and reliability
  • Leading the design and management of cloud infrastructure through CI/CD pipelines and automation processes
  • Advocating and driving the adoption of best practices for DevOps and Continuous Delivery, including automated testing (BDD, TDD), build and deployment pipelines, and observability
  • Implementing automation strategies to effectively monitor and optimize cloud solutions performance
  • Establishing and maintaining data security processes to ensure the security of networks, data stores, and applications
  • Acting as the point of escalation during incidents, helping to resolve issues and mitigate risks
  • Leading technical problem-solving efforts and provide guidance to other engineers
  • Mentoring junior engineers and provide training on cloud technologies and tools

About You:

  • At least 5 years of expertise in professional software development is required. You should have prior experience working within an agile team setup, and ideally, you have also led a project or a team of engineers for a certain period of time.
  • Expertise in DevOps culture and CI/CD practices
  • Strong experience in incident and issue management
  • Strong understanding of site reliability engineering, observability data types (logs, metrics and tracing) and experience with related tooling
  • In-depth knowledge of automation, orchestration, container and serverless technologies
  • Proven capability to effectively manage and drive organizational change (technical)
  • Extensive experience in designing and managing cloud architectures, applications, and services
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present to and influence stakeholders at various levels
  • Commitment to ongoing learning and development by staying up to date with cloud industry trends, technologies and market changes
  • Current and full working rights in Australia.
