THE LOCAL BUSINESS

Cruise Whitsundays is an award winning, innovative, and experienced maritime operator, based in Airlie Beach. Our experiences include day and overnight tours throughout the Whitsundays, as well as resort connection services. We are proud to offer Australia’s first underwater accommodation, Reefsuites, on The Great Barrier Reef and exclusive Reefsleep experience at Reefworld moored offshore at Hardy Reef, 40 nautical miles from Airlie Beach.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are currently seeking a motivated and passionate Chef to join our Reefworld Pontoon team on a casual relief basis becoming an ambassador of the incredible experiences we bring to life in the iconic Whitsundays.

This position offers a unique work location based at our Reefworld Pontoon located on the Outer Great Barrier Reef (39 nautical miles offshore). You may be required to work up to 8 days at a time, where shared accommodation and meals are provided whilst on-duty at the Reefworld Pontoon.

This role is responsible for creating memorable guest experiences through the high-quality preparation and presentation of the Reefsuite and Reefsleep dining experience.

Some key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparation of menu, ensuring high quality and guest satisfaction
  • Maintain stock and inventory levels
  • Maintain and monitor all Health amp; Safety including hygiene practices and procedures ensuring high standards of cleanliness and adherence to legislative requirements, HACCP compliance and the on-board Safety Management System
  • Overseeing hygiene, cleanliness and general safety of all staff working in food preparation areas
  • Maintain and exceed standards of service and operating standards, ensuring maximum guest experience

ABOUT YOU

The ideal candidate will be passionate and proud of the food and service that they deliver and be willing to go above and beyond for our guests, motivated to create ongoing memorable and unique guest experiences. You will be a team player with a demonstrated positive "can-do" attitude and lead by example philosophy.

To be successful in this role you will be comfortable working and living on a Pontoon and in an isolated environment (Outer Great Barrier Reef) with flexibility to work extended hours including nights, weekends and public holidays.

The successful applicant will have/be:

  • Minimum of 3-years experience in a similar Chef role, with evidence of ongoing professional development highly regarded;
  • The necessary working entitlements to work in Australia, with a minimum 6-month commitment;
  • Highly self-motivated, with great energy - A real multi-tasker;
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and part of a team;
  • High attention to detail and high standard of delivery;
  • Excellent personal presentation and interpersonal skills;
  • Confident with the use of technology and communication devices;
  • Proficient with MS Office and general administrative tasks.

Requirements

  • A relevant qualification in Commercial Cookery;
  • QLD Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA);
  • SITXFSA005 Use hygienic practices for food safety amp; SITXFSA006 Participate in safe food handling practices;
  • HLTAID011 Provide First Aid amp; HLTAID015 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation amp; Apply Basic Oxygen;
  • QLD Working with Children's Check (Blue Card).
