Requirements

What key responsibilities does this role have @ Koala?

  • Support in the development, implementation and evolution of Koala’s People Strategy.
  • Contribute to key organisational development and change projects as appropriate.
  • Lead the change management process for new business-wide Pamp;C initiatives to ensure successful execution in line with desired project outcomes.
  • Help create a culture that is adaptive and agile through facilitating training and supporting Lamp;D initiatives.
  • Coach line managers to improve the performance of their people, lifting their capability and empowering them to drive the performance of their teams in order to meet and exceed business objectives.
  • Work with the Talent Acquisition team to facilitate effective workforce planning to identify the capacity and capability of the organisation to deliver its objectives.
  • Hardcore HR-ing (when needed):
    • Provide HR advice and interpretation of people policies and employment legislation that is practical, commercial, strategic and value-add to both the business overall and individually to management and teams.
    • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues and grievances. Conduct effective, timely and objective investigations.
    • Own Koala’s OHS initiatives relating to our employees’ wellbeing
    • Contribute to policy development and implementation in relation to industrial and employee relations matters.
    • Payroll support and owning all employee related documentation
  • Champion Koala’s Values by implementing solutions that promote the Koala way of working; constructively challenge decisions that aren’t in the best interests of the organisation or its people.

Ideal background

  • Bachelor's degree or qualified in relevant HR or business discipline.
  • 3+ years’ experience in an HR generalist or business partnering role, preferably coming from a collaborative and all hands-on deck environment.
  • Significant experience in industrial relations with a sound knowledge of industrial and employee relations; interest in growing in the learning and development space a bonus.
  • Passion for championing an exceptional employee experience.
  • Strategic thinker. Able to provide strategic advice, develop options, analyse risks, make good judgments, and loves solving problems.
  • Confidence to effectively and creatively challenge people, situations and current thinking.
  • Creative, resourceful, and pragmatic with a positive ‘can do’ and solution-focused attitude.
  • Excellent attention to detail and able to multitask and run several projects concurrently.
  • Team player. Willingness to work in other areas of HR to manage peaks in the team’s workload and cover for colleagues as required.
  • Exceptional communication skills both written and verbal.

  • Our HR tech stack includes Google Suite, BambooHR, Pyn, Juno, Workable and Culture Amp - previous experience with those platforms is highly desirable.
