Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Environmental Advisor to use the principles of engineering, soil science, biology, and chemistry to develop technically sound solutions to environmental problems. You will be involved in large scale and exciting infrastructure projects to manage compliance with environmental policy, optimise the utilisation of resources and improve the quality of the surrounding environment.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical advisor on environmental policies and standards to ensure regulatory applicability.
  • Develop and implement environmental management plans.
  • Address problems and develop environmental solutions to prevent risk of harm or damage to the surrounding environment.
  • Conduct research and technical audits on the environmental impact of projects, analyse data and perform quality control checks.
  • Document and maintain plans, requirements, protocols, permits and standard operating procedures.
  • Monitor progress and provide recommendations reports.
  • Collaborate with and manage specialist subcontractors scientists, planners and other experts.
  • Integrate into project teams to provide both project outcomes whilst maintaining environmental compliance and best practice.

Requirements

You will be a motivated and proactive environmental engineer or scientist, with the right combination of energy and a commitment to learning. We want you to bring your perspective and skills to diverse projects, and have the ambition to design your own career path.

You will also have:

  • a degree Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or Civil Engineering with Masters of Environment.
  • 5-7 years' experience as either: an environmental advisor/manager for construction, mining, or oil and gas; or, an environmental management consultant with experience in delivery of major infrastructure projects.
  • proven onsite experience on major infrastructure projects. Ideally experience would be as Senior Environmental Advisor/Manager on a major project.
  • knowledge and experience with implementation of ISO14001 Environmental Management Systems
  • be Lead Auditor qualified
  • strong interpersonal skills to liaise positively with key stakeholders
  • ability to work in a project environment, collaboratively with others
  • Familiarity with EPA Victoria guidelines, requirements along with quality assurance, documentation, environmental rules, regulations and best practice.
