About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Master to join our team for our 2024 season from March to November. As our Senior Master, you will be responsible for the day-to-day marine operations at our base in Talbot Bay including operational planning, safety, and compliance. You will manage, lead, and mentor our Marine Crew consisting of Vessel Masters and Deckhands while leading a guest-centric, service-oriented culture of continuous improvement. You’ll ensure that your team has the training and tools they need to deliver engaging tours, and above all, you will have the safety of our guests and staff at the top of your priorities. You will play an active role in the creation, review and upkeep of marine policies and procedures, focusing on introducing efficiencies and best practice approaches where possible. You will also work closely with our engineering team to ensure the efficient operations of our fleet service, maintenance, and repair programs and that vessels are always maintained to the highest standards.
About You
You have a professional yet friendly style and enjoy working as part of a close-knit team. You’re a natural leader and are comfortable with responsibility and accountability. You get great satisfaction from ensuring that our guests have an incredible experience and pride yourself on your high standard of delivery and service. You are highly organised, have excellent communication skills and a strong technical background.
You will be a great fit as our next Senior Master if you have:
- Master V ticket as a minimum, MED qualifications are also highly desirable
- Prior experience in a similar role (or in a safety/compliance focused role), with prior leadership experience or experience managing a team
- Strong understanding of AMSA safety regulations for Domestic Commercial Vessels
- Current First, Aid, CPR and Oxygen Therapy; or the ability to obtain them
- Strong problem solving, decision making and interpersonal skills with a solutions focused approach
- Prior exposure in commercial/financial decision making is highly regarded
