Here’s what you’ll be doing:

The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is seeking the services of multiple highly skilled Business Analysts with significant experience leading business analysis activities.

The successful candidates will work with business subject matter experts (SME’s) to elicit business requirements for several initiatives underway within Australian Parliament House (APH).

To be successful in this role candidates will need to have:

  • A minimum of 7+ years’ experience as a Business Analyst.
  • Have experience working with both Agile and Waterfall delivery approaches.
  • Have experience working in software development teams and System Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Hold strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication, workshop facilitation and writing skills.

To deliver on this program of work, the Business Analyst will be required to:

  • Lead a range of business and technical stakeholder engagements to collect, analyse and define business requirements across the Parliamentary departments.
  • Define user stories, acceptance criteria and create wireframes where necessary.
  • Define the current state and future state for new business processes and articulate options for implementation.
  • Collaborate with other sections across the Information Services Division to support the design and development of solutions to meet the requirements of Parliamentary departments.
  • Work with the delivery team to inform development and testing effort.
  • Undertake other related activities to support successful delivery as required.

This role is based in Barton, Canberra. Flexible working arrangements are available with a mix of work from home and office based work with at least 2 days in the office required. Work from home days will need to be tailored to work around business engagement and workshops.

Security Clearance: Must have active baseline clearance.

Essential criteria

1. Demonstrated skills and experience leading complex business analysis activities, while managing business and technology change in an agile environment.

2. Highly developed verbal, written and presentation skills including the ability to develop complex business requirements, processes and SOPs material, with strong attention to detail, and present analysis and recommendations clearly and effectively to diverse stakeholder groups.

3. Robust stakeholder management and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage at all levels of an organisation with both business and technical stakeholders, and develop positive, effective relationships.

4. Extensive experience and skills in using formal business analysis techniques and methods in preparing and presenting analysis artefacts including but not limited to business requirements, standard operating materials, user stories, use cases, process maps (BPMN) and requirements specifications.

5. Demonstrated track record of professionalism, pragmatism, resilience, and personal integrity.
