Job Description

As a member of DISCO’s Data Science team, you will work closely with our Lead Data Scientist, product team, and engineers to deliver best-in-market ML products for the music industry, creating and improving DISCO machine learning models, as well as data effectiveness and governance. Your core responsibilities are focused on creating and maintaining the data and ML offerings for our customers.

Requirements

Technical Skills
  • Deep learning frameworks - proficiency in Keras and familiarity with TensorFlow for building and optimizing neural network architectures
  • Cloud computing - experience with AWS, particularly SageMaker, for training and deploying machine learning models at scale
  • Programming languages - strong programming skills in Python, including experience with libraries like NumPy, Pandas for data manipulation and Audio ML library experience is a bonus
  • Data manipulation - ability to pre-process and clean large datasets, particularly audio data, to make it suitable for machine learning models
  • Experimentation - experience in setting up and conducting scientific experiments to evaluate the performance of various machine learning models, and presenting results to the internal stakeholders
Non-Technical Skills
  • Literature review - ability to conduct comprehensive literature reviews to understand the state-of-the-art techniques in audio machine learning
  • Critical thinking - strong analytical and critical thinking skills to evaluate the feasibility and impact of implementing new algorithms or techniques
  • Communication - excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and present findings to stakeholders
  • Learning ability - willingness and ability to quickly learn about new technologies and techniques, particularly in the field of digital signal processing and audio engineering.
  • Problem solving - a proactive approach to identifying challenges and providing innovative solutions
  • Judgment - good judgment in assessing the effort vs benefit trade-off when considering the implementation of new technologies and methodologies
Work Experience

2-3 years industry experience or more

Nice to Have
  1. A keen interest in music or even play an instrument
  2. Audio Processing experience - basic understanding of digital signal processing techniques, including Fourier Transforms, Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCCs), Mel-Spectrograms, and other audio feature extraction methods
  3. Education: Master's degree or higher in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field with a focus on machine learning or signal processing is preferred.
