We are seeking an experienced Chief People Officer to join our executive management team to lead our people and culture function into the future. This pivotal role will provide strong leadership and blend strategic acumen and operational expertise.

The position:

The Chief People Officer will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the human resources and people strategy for Respect. As a member of the executive management team, the Chief People Officer will collaborate closely with other senior leaders to drive organisational effectiveness, talent development, and employee engagement. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities within the aged care sector, coupled with a passion for creating a supportive and enriching workplace culture.

The Chief People Officer can be located anywhere in Tasmania, New South Wales, or Victoria but must be able to travel as required.

Key Responsibilities include:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive people strategy aligned with Respect's mission, vision, and strategic goals.
  • Provide strategic guidance to the executive team on human resources management, organisational development and workforce planning.
  • Lead the People and Culture team to deliver a contemporary and effective service aligned with Respect's strategic objectives.

Talent Acquisition and Management:

  • Lead the development and implementation of effective talent acquisition and retention strategies.
  • Oversee recruitment processes, ensuring that Respect attracts, hires, and retains top talent.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development.

Employee Engagement and Well-being:

  • Implement initiatives to enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and overall well-being.
  • Collaborate with Respect leaders to create a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
  • Develop and implement employee recognition and reward programs.

Performance Management:

  • Lead the design and implementation of performance management systems that align with Respect's objectives.
  • Provide guidance to managers on performance feedback, coaching, and professional development.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion:

  • Drive initiatives to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout the organisation.
  • Foster an inclusive culture that values and leverages diversity of thought and backgrounds.

Workplace Relations:

  • Act as a trusted advisor to employees and managers, providing guidance on HR policies and procedures.
  • Oversee complex workplace relations matters, including enterprise agreement negotiations and dispute management, ensuring fair and consistent resolution of issues.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Stay abreast of relevant employment legislation and regulations, payroll requirements and aged care accreditation standards, ensuring Respect's ongoing compliance.
  • Mitigate HR-related risks through proactive policies and practices.

Safety and Workers Compensation:

  • Implement initiatives to minimise workplace injuries and promote a safe working environment.
  • Monitor and analyse workers' injury and compensation data to identify trends and implement proactive measures to reduce incidents.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive workers' compensation programs and policies.
  • Work closely with external partners, such as insurers and legal professionals, to manage claims, investigations, and dispute resolutions.
