Working as part of our Journey Beyond Group, you play an integral role in supporting our business to share special places and shape lasting memories.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As the GM, Group Safety you will be the group lead for all associated workplace risk and compliance requirements and for driving a work health and safety culture across all Journey Beyond businesses.

You will develop a group wide WHS strategic plan with business specific lead indicators, measures and monitoring systems. This will involve identifying areas of risk, ensuring effective JSA’s, incident reporting and procedural frameworks are in place to maintain legal and cultural compliance.

The role will oversee the internal and external WHS audit function and implement and drive behavioural and legislative safety standards to improve safety performance. This role will also consult on Injury Management and Return to Work practices, in collaboration with HR Operations. The incumbent will be expected to be a change leader and subject matter expert in all aspects of safety.

This is a national role based in our Adelaide North Terrace office; domestic travel may be required as you will be required to work with teams and stakeholders in multiple locations. You must have the flexibility to travel as required.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Oversee the development, implementation and review of the framework of all Safety policy, procedures and work practices to comply with the relevant Australian Standards, State and Federal legislation, regulations and corporate standards
  • Continuing to build a cohesive team of safety experts through regular meetings, shared priorities and best practices, to ensure that businesses benefit from other group safety initiatives
  • Build and maintain sustainable working relationships with external Auditors and Rail, Marine and Aviation Regulators.
  • Assist the GM Risk amp; Compliance in managing major insurance claims on a case-by-case basis.
  • Co-lead with Operations Managers, all Advisory Safety Committee meetings, Management Safety Committee meetings and Safety Consultative Committee meetings and other project teams as directed.
  • Participate in the Board Safety Committee meetings, Executive Safety Committee and Safety Consultative Committee meetings and other project teams as directed
  • Based on investigations conducted by safety team, report on themes and trends with Guest Safety issues, and develop plans for reducing the risk and incidence related to Guest Safety across the business in all locations
  • Ensure that all safety teams organise relevant safety, security and WHS training for staff at all levels within each business

ABOUT YOU:

To be successful you will have a diploma or degree in WHS/ Risk/ Quality, along with previous experience; including people management experience, in a similar role from within a service or operations environment where direct reports are geographically dispersed.
