About the Role:

As Bioproduction Officer, you will be based at our Australian Head Office and Laboratory in Orange, NSW, reporting to the Head of Bioproduction. This role will be responsible for assisting in the laboratory production of microbial inocula, working across necessary preparations of biological material for in-vitro experiments and field trials, and carrying out standard laboratory processes necessary for the successful execution of bioproduction.

You will be part of a larger team of scientific specialists and have opportunities to engage with and learn from your wider team.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the development, manufacturing, quality control and stability testing of microbial formulation
  • Assist in the development and validation of laboratory protocols to optimise manufacturing process
  • Assist in conducting laboratory experiments and assays under the guidance of Loam Scientists and Associates
  • Preparation, maintenance and storage of microbial samples
  • Engage in data systems to record experimental processes and outcomes
  • Assist in the inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment
  • Ensure equipment and facilities are maintained in accordance with approved standard
  • Investigate and resolve the technical challenges in the laboratory
  • Carrying out and complying with risk assessments and working to high safety standards
  • Training and managing casual laboratory technicians

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in a related field, such as Biology, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or Bioengineering etc
  • Laboratory experience, preferably in aseptic microbiology techniques
  • A high level of safety awareness and ability to carry out risk assessments
  • Ability to take ownership of issues and a resolution-focused mindset, with strong attention to detail
  • Good time management skills and a strong work ethic
  • Physically fit and able to safely carry up to 10 kilograms over a short distance
