Cruise Whitsundays is an award winning, innovative, and experienced maritime operator, based in Airlie Beach. Our experiences include day and overnight tours throughout the Whitsundays, as well as resort connection services. We are proud to offer Australia’s first underwater accommodation, Reefsuites, on The Great Barrier Reef and exclusive Reefsleep experience at Reefworld moored offshore at Hardy Reef, 40 nautical miles from Airlie Beach.
THE OPPORTUNITY
We are on the hunt for permanent full time Catering Chef to join the team working Tuesday to Saturday 1:00pm to 9:30pm. Reporting to the Catering Supervisor, the Catering Chef assist in the day to day management of the onsite Catering team. This hands-on position oversees daily kitchen operations to provide high-quality catering across the business including onsite catering, onboard vessels and at Reefworld a permanently moored pontoon, located 39 nautical miles offshore on the Great Barrier Reef. The Catering Chef also assists with private charters and function events.
What will you be doing?
- Prepare menus and provide input for new ideas in collaboration with the Catering Supervisor;
- Understand and cater to food allergies and dietary requirements;
- Ensure appropriate storage of food items and safe transportation of food;
- Ensure high standards of hygiene, cleanliness and general safety ;
- Stock procurement and monitoring portion and waste control;
- Provide mentorship and guidance to Cooks and Kitchen Attendants;
- Stay current on catering industry trends.
The Catering Chef must undertake relief work at Reefworld a permanently moored pontoon, located 39 nautical miles from shore on the Great Barrier Reef. The Reefworld kitchen facilitates one of Australia’s most unique 5-star dining experiences. Shared accommodation and meals provided whilst on-duty at the Reefworld Pontoon.

Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Minimum 3 years in a similar position, preferably with bulk food preparation experience
- Minimum Cert III in Commercial Cookery
- Food Safety Supervisor (Level 1 - SITXFSA005 Use hygienic practices for food safety amp; Level 2 - SITXFSA006 Participate in safe food handling practices)
- QLD Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA)
- First Aid, CPR and Apply Oxygen (O2)
- Blue Card - Working with Children's Check
- Ability to work at Reefworld when required for leave coverage
