Job Description

As the General Manager, Touring Operations, you will ensure the successful delivery of our Outback Spirit touring program that operates throughout Australia.

About the Role

You will report to the Executive General Manager and be responsible for strategic leadership and overseeing the day-to-day delivery of the Outback Spirit touring program. You will be responsible for leading the operations team to deliver exceptional experiences to our guests across various tour offerings.

The key responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing and implementing strategic plans to drive growth and profitability of the Touring Operations.
  • Overseeing the planning and execution of all touring operations, ensuring safety, quality, and guest satisfaction.
  • Managing and developing relationships with key partners, suppliers, and stakeholders.
  • Leading and mentoring the operations team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Monitoring and managing financial performance, including budgeting and forecasting.
  • Identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement in systems, processes, and guest experiences.
  • Achievement and proactive management of the Net Promotor Scores (NPS).
  • Contribute to the development of new products and experiences.
  • Manage the effective maintenance, performance, and productivity of the asset base.

This position is based in the Albury office with travel required to regional and remote areas to visit touring staff and suppliers and conduct on-tour quality control.

Requirements

There will be a strong emphasis on continuous improvement to ensure and maintain the highest quality and distinctive Outback Spirit service, fostering an engaged, skilled and motivated team. The role calls for a strategic thinker with strong analytical skills.

The ideal candidate for this role will possess:

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in tourism or hospitality, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Experience in managing and leading a multifaceted national touring operation and managing complex operational challenges.
  • Excellent strategic thinking and business planning skills.
  • Strong leadership capabilities, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A customer-centric mindset and a passion for creating unforgettable travel experiences.
  • Strong financial acumen and the ability to manage budgets and drive profitability.
  • An understanding of the Australian tourism industry and market trends.
  • A passion for and demonstrated experience in the delivery of great customer service.
