Job Description

We are searching for an exceptional Commercial Manager to provide core financial and commercial support to the businesses. You will have plenty of experience in managing the day-to-day financial management of a business to support you in this senior role, where you will be required to go above and beyond in owning the financial stewardship of your Pamp;L’s. As well as the month end reporting process, you will take the lead on the quarterly forecasting/annual budgeting processes. This role will be responsible for specialized Group reporting as well as ad hoc business unit requests and project work.

This role will be a point of contact for the Market Leader/CEO and senior employees of each business unit with their day-to-day queries, as well as being instrumental in supporting the business as they implement operational changes. You will be supported by a Revenue Accountant to deliver information and day-to-day business management to support your leadership and business partnership position within the team.

As a Commercial Manager you are a leader of the business, so leadership and team management are crucial elements of your job. We expect you to show initiative and look for ways to add value to your business units, and within the finance team. What we’re looking to see from you here is strong interpersonal skills and a desire to apply your specialist and strategic skills across the business.

The ideal candidate will be quick and keen to learn, organized and logical, calm under pressure, technically proficient, have good attention to detail and be able to work with and for all levels of people. A good team player is also an essential attribute.

Requirements

  • Financial management: You need to keep everyone honest, so strong financial acumen is crucial. You need to analyse the operations of your entities through their financial results as well as ensure that they are on track to meet the targets they are set. You will be relied upon by the MD’s and team members of your companies, so you need to ensure that the information you give them is correct. As a Commercial Manager, you are required to see above the numbers and provide analysis/comment where possible. We will need you to demonstrate a strong understanding of COA, GL amp; system as you will be responsible for reporting.
  • Relationship building: Relationships are crucial in your role. You will work most closely with the MD’s and senior client service team, however you will also work with team members of all levels. You should have a friendly and courteous manner and be able to establish a relationship with staff, clients and suppliers, but not be afraid to push back in order to manage what can be a large workload.
  • Communication: We are a communications business so it is important that everyone has strong communication skills. You will be working with people who may be unsure of Finance concepts, so being able to explain items in a way that makes sense to non-Finance people is vitally important. Also, keeping an open communication channel with the FD will ensure that there are no surprises which is crucial in our business.
