Job Description

Ipsos Australia was recently commissioned to conduct the NSW Household Travel Survey by Transport for NSW.

To ensure the success of the project, we are seeking a team of committed casual field interviewers. As a member of the team, you will play a vital role in the delivery and collection of surveys materials and completion of face-to-face travel surveys on behalf of the Transport for NSW, across the Newcastle and Hunter region weekly until at least June 2024.

Paid training will be provided, and there will be potential for high achievers to be trained in supervisory positions during the fieldwork period.

Benefits

  • $35.79 per hour for fieldwork
  • Kilometres travelled paid at $0.91 per km, tolls amp; parking reimbursed.
  • Fully paid training
  • Approximately 20 hours per week (this will vary from week to week)

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Recruitment to Travel Survey: You will be responsible for recruiting eligible respondents to participate in the study, distributing GPS devices to agreeing participants, ensuring that they understand the purpose and importance of their responses, and scheduling appointments to complete an in-person interview and pick up devices.
  • Personal Interview and Collection: You will diligently conduct face-to-face interviews, collect the GPS devices from participants, and ensure accuracy and completeness of every survey.

To excel in this role, we are looking for individuals who possess the following qualities:

  • Commitment: We need team members who are dedicated and reliable during the fieldwork period
  • Attention to Detail: Accuracy is crucial when collecting data. You should strive to ensure all surveys are completed correctly and in full.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: You will interact with participants on a regular basis, so effective communication skills are essential. The ability to explain the purpose of the study clearly and address any queries or concerns is important.
  • Professionalism: As representatives of Ipsos and Transport for NSW, professionalism is paramount. You should maintain a positive and respectful attitude towards participants and always uphold ethical standards.

You will also require the following:

  • Available to work on weekends and/or weekdays:
  • Available for an immediate start.
  • MUST have a current driver’s licence, access to a reliable vehicle and a mobile phone.
  • The right to work in Australia.
  • Be comfortable using smart devices (e.g., tablets)

Field, or Census interviewing experience would be beneficial,but not essentialas full training will be provided.
