About the Role
In this role you will be managing and maintaining Microsoft SQL environments for one of our Federal Government clients. This role includes BAU, project and on-call duties on a scheduled roster.
This role will be a hybrid-based role with the expectation to join the team in the office 1-2 times per week. This role can be based in any of our Australian offices (Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Adelaide, Brisbane or Perth) and it is essential that you are an Australian Citizen and able to obtain a Baseline or NV1 clearance to be considered for this role (current holders will be highly regarded).
What you’ll do
As an SQL Server Database Administrator, your core objectives and responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Manage SQL Server database systems
- Take part in an on-call roster.
- Take ownership of problems, changes, incidents and project work.
- Create high level and detailed designs then build and implement
- Provide input into or creation of Statements of Work (SoW) with accurate and realistic timeframes
- You will be expected to obtain your SQL MS certification amp; to become familiar with working within a ITIL framework.
- Understanding and delivery of all artefacts required for Project to BAU handover
- Initiate and drive service and process improvement
- Administer, troubleshoot and maintains databases across all supported environments.
What you’ll bring
Ideally, you will bring these skills to the role:
- SQL Server upgrades, migrations and patching
- Experience with on-prem to cloud-based migrations
- SQL replication and encryption
- SQL performance tuning and investigation
- DBA experience in SQL HA and DR technologies
- DBA experience with Azure SQL would be desirable
- Install and configure SSIS, SSAS amp; SSRS
- Support and develop SSIS packages
- Advanced T-SQL skills
- Change Data Capture
- Always On AG’s, Log shipping, DB mirroring, replication, backup and restore
- A high level of initiative, time management and self confidence
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Skills in using logic and reasoning
- The ability to work autonomously
- Exceptional trouble shooting and problem-solving skills
- Excellent customer service
- The ability to prioritise effectively
Ideally you will also have industry recognised certificates such as MCSA/MCSE or qualifications in a related field and/or equivalent skills and experience. An IT Associate Diploma/Degree and/or ITIL foundations certification would be looked upon favourably.
