Job Description
Ipsos Australia was recently commissioned to conduct the Greater Hobart Household Travel Survey (Hobart HTS), for the Tasmanian Department of State Growth.
To ensure the success of the project, we are seeking a team of committed casual field interviewers. As a member of the team, you will play a vital role in the delivery and collection of self-complete travel surveys on behalf of the Tasmanian Gov’t, around the Greater Hobart Region for 9 weeks between September and December 2023.
Paid training will be provided, and there will be potential for high achievers to be trained in supervisory positions during the fieldwork period.
Benefits
- $35.79 per hour for fieldwork
- Kilometres travelled paid at $0.91 per km
- Fully paid training
- Approximately 16-20 hours per week (this will vary from week to week)
Requirements Your main responsibilities will include:
- Delivery of Travel Surveys: You will be responsible for distributing travel surveys to agreeing participants, ensuring that they understand the purpose and importance of their responses.
- Collection of Surveys: You will diligently collect the completed surveys from participants, ensuring accuracy and completeness of every survey.

- Attention to Detail: Accuracy is crucial when collecting data. You should strive to ensure all surveys are completed correctly and in full.
- Excellent Communication Skills: You will interact with participants on a regular basis, so effective communication skills are essential. The ability to explain the purpose of the study clearly and address any queries or concerns is important.
- Professionalism: As representatives of Ipsos and the Tasmanian Gov’t, professionalism is paramount. You should maintain a positive and respectful attitude towards participants and always uphold ethical standards.
You will also require the following:
- Available to work on weekends:
- Available for immediate start
- A mobile phone, a current driver’s licence and have access to a reliable vehicle
- The right to work in Australia
- Be comfortable using smart devices (e.g., tablets)
Field or Census interviewing experience would be beneficial,but not essentialas full training will be provided
