About the Company

About the opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Manager to support our Farm Manager on our broadacre cropping property in Central Queensland. This role will be suitable for someone who has experience in cropping (ideally cotton) and is experienced in managing small teams of staff.
Reporting to the Farm Manager, you will be responsible to:
- Provide farm management cover in the absence of the Farm Manager
- Establish crops including, bed preparation, fertilising, sowing and cultivation
- Coordinate irrigation implementation and maintenance
- Manage crops including herbicide and pesticide application
- Operate broadacre farming plant and equipment including airseeder, precision plant, self-propelled spray unit
- Complete general farm duties including repairs and maintenance
- Oversee the implementation and embedding of the Safe Ag platform and safety processes on farm
- Contribute to a positive and productive working environment.
Requirements
- You will have extensive broadacre cropping experience. Experience with cotton is preferred
- You will have a proven track record of operating machinery and have sound mechanical knowledge
- You will have experience supervising and managing small teams of staff
- You will hold a current driver’s licence
- You will be flexible, reliable and available to work hours which may vary to meet operational demands (with potential for Saturday work)
- A positive, can-do attitude is essential.
