About the Role
Peer Support Workers are mental health professionals who draw on their lived experience of recovery from mental illness to support consumers. You must identify with having experienced your own mental illness, have a rich understanding of your own processes of recovery and be willing to purposefully use this understanding in your practice.
Peer Support Workers will work within the Collaborative Relational Practice to provide support to consumers. This includes supporting people to identify what is important to them, their values and strengths, and set goals that are in line with these.
You will also support with applications to access the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) where appropriate.
You will work collaboratively with a team in planning and co-facilitating group programs including Flourish, a peer facilitated recovery-based self-development program.
Peer Support Workers have access to a tailored training program and to regular supervision and practice development sessions.
