About the role:
As AirTree’s Compliance amp; Risk Manager, you’ll report to our General Counsel Nick Brown and work closely with our Partner Helen Norton and to own all internal and regulatory compliance processes across AirTree, and drive increased effectiveness, efficiency and speed.
This is a full time permanent position.
What you’ll do:
Bringing new ideas, improvements and innovations to life. You’ll be instrumental in helping the team to do their best work by ensuring systems are as effective and efficient as possible whilst ensuring at all times that we meet our regulatory requirements. This is a generalist role that will support operations, investments, finance and investor relations.
- Investment Compliance - oversee the investment close process. Be the connective tissue between the Investment, Finance, Legal and Investor Relations teams to ensure that our investment process is seamless for founders and the team.
- Fund compliance - work closely with the team and our advisors to ensure that AirTree is compliant with policies and regulations, especially relating to our AFSL, ESVCLP, AML/KYC and FATCA.
- Business amp; regulatory compliance - design and implement team trainings; run our regulatory reporting cadences; review and update our policies; assist with our annual audit processes.
- Risk management - own our risk review process. Design and run an effective cybersecurity risk program. Ensure that we’re constantly alert to new business risks and upping our compliance, cyber + operational game to stay one step ahead of them.
- Process design amp; improvement - keep us as efficient as possible by identifying process improvements and system updates. Be creative and iterative without compromising on attention to detail.
Requirements
The person we’re looking for:

- Able to break down complex regulatory concepts into simple chunks
About you:
Our ideal candidate has spent around 4+ years building out their skills in a legal or compliance environment. However, your background is less important than your key skills, which could include:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law or Finance or a related discipline;
- Ability to navigate the regulatory frameworks within which AirTree operates;
- Experience developing and implementing effective systems, processes and solutions to meet business needs and objectives; you are always curious to find new and better ways to do things;
- You thrive in fast-paced environments and you are super-efficient, and love nothing more than to anticipate issues before they arise;
- You’re great at prioritising, juggling projects (and moving them rapidly along) and keeping calm under pressure.
- Extremely detail-oriented.
- You have a high ownership mentality and will get stuck into any task, whether it be complicated by ambiguity or regulatory complexity.
