Job Description

Ipsos Australia was recently commissioned to conduct the Sydney Household Travel Survey for the Government of NSW.

To ensure the success of this ongoing project, we are looking for an experienced casual Field Supervisor to lead and develop our dynamic face-to-face interviewing team, ensuring data collection meets the project’s objectives and goals.


The role

  • Oversee and co-ordinate weekly roster, liaise with field staff daily, and allocate shifts for each week and weekend.
  • Organise and monitor field materials and devices.
  • Prepare weekly reports on fieldwork statistics.
  • Attend regular catch-up meetings to interact with project team members and management to ensure timely and efficient execution of studies.
  • Supervise, support, provide coaching, and constructive feedback on performance to staff.
  • Interact daily with Data Entry and Device Management teams to ensure smooth continuous running of project.
  • Identify and report issues that may compromise immediate or upcoming project performance.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to:

  • Demonstrate a friendly, collaborative, and enthusiastic nature with strong people skills.
  • Be fluent in English and have good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Have great rapport and a high level of emotional intelligence.
  • Be proficient in MS Excel, Word, Outlook, and use of interviewing platforms.
  • Be highly skilled in workforce management and scheduling.
  • Have keen attention to detail, curiosity, and diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
  • Willingness to get on the tools and work alongside the team when required. This includes potentially working outdoors in cold, rain, and heat across our work year.
  • Have ongoing availability from late August to work weekends as well as some weekdays (includes Saturdays and Sundays, approximately 50-70 hours per fortnight).
  • Valid driver’s licence and regular access to a reliable car.
  • Be comfortable with smart devices (e.g., tablets), and have a mobile phone.
  • Right to work in Australia
  • Previous interviewing experience would be helpful.
