Here’s what you’ll be doing
Role Description: Stream Leads are expected to:
• Be highly independent and self-initiate the work required to meeting allocate technical and/or project/supervisory objectives.
• Have significant influence over the allocation and management of resources appropriate to given assignments.
• Builds appropriate and effective business relationships.
• Makes decisions which impact the success of assigned work, i.e. results, deadlines and budget.
In summary, Stream Leads are appointed on the understanding that they are already highly skilled at their respective field, in key skills such as staff and budget management.
Scheduling:
• Lead the development and maintenance of project schedules that allow Project Management and various domain leads (ILS, Commercial, Engineering) to manage the Schedule/ Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
• Lead the development and maintenance of project planning activities and schedule through use of the mandated CASG Scheduling tool (OPP) and Microsoft Project. Development and maintenance of project planning activities.
• Lead the development and maintenance of Internal WBS/Schedule that is updated daily/weekly (e.g. Microsoft Project, Microsoft Visio and Microsoft excel etc.).
• Lead the development and implementation tailored Project Schedule viewpoints to brief various stakeholders using a range of tools and techniques.
• Lead the maintenance and coordination of reporting including updating Integrated Project Management Plan and Material Acquisition Agreement.
• Coordinate the project performance and identify the need for change and takes action.
• Provide guidance to Project Manager and Team Leaders on project controls.
Management of Stream Staff:
• Provide line management, mentoring and coaching to stream staff. Ensure competent performance of all stream functions by the stream staff.
• Monitor stream staff utilisation and leave.
• Provide advice on staff timesheet accuracy where required.
Customer Liaison and Stream Planning and Management:
• Build, manage, and support a productive relationship with the FL and involved PMs
• Determine the required services and outcomes needed by the projects in liaison with the relevant PM.
• Translate the services and outcomes into the Tasking Catalogue for each project.
• Monitor progress against the Tasking Catalogue.
• Monitor upcoming workload and recommend alterations to the Task Catalogue as required, noting that these changes must be approved by the Steering Committee.
• Provide expert stream relevant advice to the PMs to improve project outcomes and ensure project success
• Provide stream updates and advice for improvement and business expansion to the Delivery Manager.
• Complete weekly, monthly and quarterly reports, or reports as required.
• Ensure compliance of the stream activities and outputs against Defence security, probity and policy requirements.
Resource and Workload Management:
• Ensure adequate staff are available / engaged to achieve project outcomes within the budgeted resource profile.
• Identify changes in workload that require subsequent changes to the budget. Prepare documentation to justify change to the CoA.
Seek and Action Customer Feedback:
• Actively seek input and feedback from the relevant PMs and FLs and provide this feedback to the Delivery Manager and IWP Lead.
• Ensure the feedback is actioned by improving the processes within the stream.
This feedback should cover:
• Project forward work plans relating to the stream.
