The Australian Indigenous Governance Institute (AIGI) is an Indigenous-led national centre specialising in governance knowledge and excellence. We support the economic, social, and cultural aspirations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples by connecting them with world-class governance practice, research, thought leadership and educational resources.


Our headquarters are located at the Brisbane Technology Park in Eight Mile Plains, Queensland, with staff working remotely in various Australian states and territories, and we are proudly governed by an all-Indigenous Board of Directors. Our current strategic plan was launched in 2022 and will complete it’s cycle in 2025 with a strong focus on Governance Resources, Governance and Capability Strengthening, Partnerships and Sustainability.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Officer (Learning and Development) to join our team! This newly created role will report to the Learning and Development Coordinator, and provide support across our learning and development activities, including client relations and stakeholder management support, and administrative tasks.


Your main role responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the coordination and promotion of learning and development activities (including conferences, seminars, webinars, masterclasses and training workshops)
  • Assisting the management of logistics, sponsorship, marketing and communication of Lamp;D activities
  • Supporting the development and maintenance of policies, protocols, plans and templates relating to event planning and marketing activities
  • Regular review, evaluate and report on Lamp;D activities
  • Manage the Lamp;D calendar, including monitoring pipeline requests and scheduling
  • Manage relationships and the positive experience of key internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide appropriate guidance, assistance and information as required to stakeholders in a timely, professional manner
  • Provide high-level support to AIGI’s partners, collaborators, consultants, speakers and participants in relation to Lamp;D activities
  • Ad hoc tasks as directed by the CEO or Executive Management team that align with your role and responsibilities

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

To be successful in this role, you ideally have:


  • Relevant qualifications AND/OR relevant work experience working in or education, learning and development (qualifications are non-essential)
  • Demonstrated experience working and communicating effectively with Indigenous organisations, communities and individuals in a culturally sensitive manner
  • Excellent stakeholder management and relationship building skills, with proven experience in managing a complex array of stakeholders with sensitivity and diplomacy
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitating training and/or workshops and event planning.
  • High-level organisational and time management skills, including the ability to work in a fast-paced, agile organisation with competing priorities, pressures and strict deadlines
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail with limited supervision
  • Ability to work effectively both autonomously and as a team to achieve outcomes
  • An ability to undertake some interstate travel as required
