About the Role

  • Part Time, Permanent
  • Classification: Consumer Service Delivery Level 2 with a salary range of $71,215 - $76,353 per annum pro rata + Superannuation

Neami National is a community mental health service supporting people living with mental illness to improve their health, live independently and pursue a life based on their own strengths, values and goals.

About your new role

Peer Phone Coaches are people who have a lived experience of mental illness who occupy meaningful roles within the mental health sector and are very strong role models to callers. As a Peer offering Phone Coaching you will be responsible in providing support for workers across NSW who are experiencing challenging emotions in the workplace that may be impacting them and their wellbeing. You will use your lived experience to support and coach a person through the call, identifying appropriate information and referral pathways, and if required, support someone to directly link into a crisis service.

What you will bring to the role?

  • Lived experience of your own mental illness and a rich understanding of your own processes of recovery
  • Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work, or two years’ experience working as a Peer Worker and willingness to undertake Mental Health Peer Work qualification
  • Excellent computer literacy, phone, and written communication skills
  • A willingness to purposefully use your own story to help others further their own understanding of mental wellbeing
  • Ability to foster and maintain respectful, professional relationships with callers, staff and organisations
  • Experience of the public or private mental health system

  • National Criminal History Check (Police check) disclosable outcomes considered
  • Current Working with Children Check required before commencement of work
