About the Role

  • Full time, Permanent position available
  • Consumer Service Delivery Level 2 with a salary range of $71,215 - $76,353 per annum + Superannuation

About the Program

Working in collaboration with the local Hospital amp; Health Service Transition from Prison Mental Health Team, the Individual Recovery Support Transition from Correctional Facilities Program is designed to offer a range of non-clinical psychosocial wraparound supports to individuals 18 years and over experiencing life with a mental health diagnosis who are currently in an adult correctional facility preparing for release back into the community. Support will be delivered predominantly face to face, in-reach to correctional facilities pre-release and outreach to the community post-release. The intensity and frequency will vary according to the Individual Needs and reflected on the Individuals Recovery Plan developed collaboratively with the person, our program, and current mental health case manager.

About your new role

Community Rehabilitation and Support Workers provide a range of rehabilitation and support to consumers, tailored to meet their individual needs. Neami National's work with consumers occurs within their own community of friends, family and neighbourhood. The CRSW position in the Cairns area for this program will have the ability to work independently with in the Cairns Hinterland and Health Services catchment area. Tully to Mossman and west to Croydon. We use a range of methods, phone, teams, zoom, and face to face. Overnight travel is not a requirement for day to day consumer support. You will work closely with clinical case managers and other community partner organisations in order to deliver the best possible comprehensive service to consumers. Community Rehabilitation and Support Workers at Neami National function within a collaborative team approach and are supported by regular opportunities to reflect upon their practice and access comprehensive training and development.

What you will bring to the role?

  • Formal tertiary qualification in Mental Health or related field or willingness to obtain
  • A valid Working with Children Check
  • Eligible to obtain correctional facility entry clearance
  • A valid Australian Driver's License and ability to travel to Cairns to Hinterlands regularly in most weather conditions
  • Skills working independently with people in community
  • Knowledge of recovery practice principles which effectively translate in a solution focused direction
  • Ability maintaining a balanced approach, empathetic and objective in an emotionally charged and potentially triggering environment
  • Effective understanding and use of file and data systems
