Job Description

Job Purpose:

Take a lead role in the Applied EV electronics team to drive business success. Work closely with cross functional engineering teams and stakeholders in the design, production, repair, debugging, testing, and commissioning of our world leading software defined autonomous electric vehicles.

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities:

Liaise closely with the software, electrical, electronics, and mechanical engineering teams on the design and production of electronics componentry for key technical programs to meet the needs of the business. Take ownership of the delivery of significant electrical engineering processes and provide guidance and mentorship to other engineers as appropriate.

Requirements

You will bring:

  • Formal tertiary qualifications, preferably at master's level, in Power-Electronics Engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years hands-on experience in an automotive industry with focus on the following areas:
    • Designing and developing software and hardware for ECUs from concept to production.
    • Designing and developing electric vehicle power-train solutions including various types of motor controllers, battery management systems, and battery packs.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in software and hardware for safety critical applications compliant to ISO26262 for autonomous electric vehicles.
  • Proficient in designing high-speed, high power, and complex multi-SOC PCBs using Altium Designer for automotive industry.
  • Track record of developing EMC/EMI compliant hardware in line with international standards (CISPR 25 Class 5).
  • Proficient in model-based design (MBD) using MATLAB.
  • Experienced in automotive software development tools and standards including AUTOSAR, PREEvision, EB tresos.
  • Experienced in high quality bare-metal firmware development using C/C++.
  • Proven history of embedded software development for real-time applications using ti C2000, ARM Cortex M, and R microcontrollers.
  • Proficient in PIL, SIL, HIL, and MIL testing.
  • Experienced in rapid Control Prototyping (RCP) using Speedgoat real-time systems.
  • Qualified in estimating and evaluating products and running cost-optimization assessments.
  • Strong background in the use of spectrum analyzers, near filed probes, oscilloscopes, power supplies, RLC meters, signal generators, thermal cameras, protocol analyzers, and other test equipment.
  • Practical hardware and software knowledge of implementing and using automotive communication protocols including CAN (XCP, UDS), LIN, ETHERNET, and FLEXRAY.
  • Proficiency with the following tools and programs:
    • Electric vehicle simulation tools (ADVISOR and MATLAB coder)
    • Electrical circuits simulation using MATLAB SIMULINK, PLECS Plexim, ANSYS Electronics, and Spice-based simulators.
    • A signal/power integrity software simulator (Keysight ADS or Cadence SI/PI or Siemens PADS)
    • Automating tests using Python scripts
    • Software development and version control tools including git, Jira, and Confluence
    • SOLIDWORKS Flow for ECU thermal simulation
  • A well-rounded expertise spanning electronics, mechatronics, and software, fostering cross-functional knowledge.
  • Experience in, or capacity to provide mentorship and hands on practical guidance to a team of likeminded electrical / electronic engineers.
  • Diligence in designing, testing, validation, and ability to analyse test results, highlight abnormalities, and present outcomes to an audience with a range of technical expertise.
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills.

Other Useful Experience:

  • Proven record of design, implementation, and test of multiple innovative products for autonomous electric vehicles.
  • Experienced with Siemens PLM software.
  • Experienced with drive-by-wire steering systems.
  • IOT Edge device experience, Linux, SAFERTOS, ROS (Robot Operating System), CANalyzer / CANape, vehicle spy.
