About the Role

  • Part Time (0.8 FTE) Permanent Position
  • Classification: Consumer Service Delivery Level 3 with a salary range of $77,656 - $83,565 per annum pro rata + Superannuation

About your new role

Lived Experience Practitioner

Lived Experience Practitioners (LEP) will safely and purposefully use their own story to help others further their own understanding of suicide and their role in its prevention. The LEP will safely share their lived experience of the impacts of suicide in a range of settings including suicide prevention training, targeted social media campaigns to address the stigma surrounding suicide and promote positive, evidence-based help-seeking behavior. Lived Experience Practitioners (LEP) will also consult with various communities including local government, CALD and a range of ‘at risk’ groups to better understand community needs and capacity for recognising and responding to suicide risk.

Suicide Prevention Practitioner

The Suicide Prevention Practitioner (SPP) has a deep understanding of not only the factors that can lead to a suicide but also impacts that a suicide has on families and communities. The SSP will consult and collaborate with a ride range of community groups and organisations building capacity through the facilitation of wellbeing programs and suicide prevention training to workplaces, community organisations and other at-risk groups. The SSP will participate in the fostering development and co-ordination of local networks, collaborating with the aim of better equipping communities to respond to suicide and the risks of suicide.

What you will bring to the role

Lived Experience Practitioner:

  • Lived experience of the impacts of suicide and demonstrated experience of recovery.
  • Experience in developing and facilitating group activities to meet the needs of participants and communities in relation to understanding suicide and prevention including self-care management practices
  • Experience consulting and working collaboratively with communities and other stakeholders and service providers

Suicide Prevention Practitioner:

  • Knowledge of current trends and practices in educational and community development suicide prevention work
  • Ability to plan, use and continually review self-disclosure in a purposeful, meaningful and safe way
  • Experience consulting and working collaboratively with communities and other stakeholders and service providers
  • Ability to engage with a diverse range of people including individuals, community groups and key stakeholders in a professional, respectful way providing a safe and supportive environment.

What the role requires:

  • National Criminal History Check (Police check) disclosable outcomes considered
  • Current Working with Children Check required before commencement of work
  • Current Drivers licence
  • Australian Working Rights
  • As part of Neami’s condition of employment you will need to provide appropriate evidence of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (having received three doses) to Neami National.
