The Who:
Australian Payments Plus (AP+) brings together Australia’s three domestic payment providers, BPAY Group, eftpos and NPP Australia, into one integrated entity. Bringing these businesses together enables AP+ to create a more competitive and coordinated Australian payments organisation that is strategically placed to respond to the impacts of regulatory and technological change today, and into the future.

Our capabilities include Australia’s domestic debit network, real-time payments infrastructure, secure bill payments, digital identity exchange, QR code payments and experiences, and open wallet solutions.

The Purpose:

Reporting to the General Manager AP+ Scheme Management, this role has full managerial responsibility for Scheme Risk and Compliance, ensuring that the related capabilities and lower-level functional processes are effective and ‘best practice’.

The role is responsible for developing, implementing, communicating, executing, and maintaining frameworks that support the Scheme Risk and Compliance functions required to manage the AP+ Scheme.

The incumbent will work closely with other members of the AP+ Leadership Team amp; the Payments and Scheme Leadership Team as well as the Scheme Management Team

Responsibilities of the role will cover four key areas, where you will be accountable for the development, maintenance amp; continual improvement of:

Governance:

  • Managing the delivery of the Risk and Compliance advisory groups and be an active participant in the Fraud advisory group
  • Managing the delivery of relevant Scheme analytics (e.g. risk, non-compliance) which support decision making across the Scheme Governance Committees and internal stakeholders
  • Be actively involved in the Product advisory group, acting as a conduit into the Risk and Compliance advisory group

Risk Management::

  • Systems and processes to identify, assess and report on the status of risks to the Scheme on an ongoing basis
  • Programs to increase knowledge across the Scheme
  • Effective risk management programs that support the strategic objectives of the Scheme
  • Perform the role of risk champion to increase knowledge and disciplines across Scheme Management Line 1 risk management practices

Compliance Management:

  • Systems and processes which are focused on continually improving adherence to the AP+ Scheme Rules and Procedures
  • Programs to increase knowledge and awareness of Scheme compliance obligations with key internal and external stakeholder groups
  • Engagement protocols to ensure stakeholder groups across the AP+ eco system are kept up to date and well informed on Scheme matters

People Management:

  • Model and champion the Organisational values and behaviours
  • Foster and embed an innovative and growth mindset within the business
  • Collaborate in the development and achievement of the goals and KPI’s of the Scheme Risk and Compliance Team

The skills amp; knowledge you need to have:

  • Experience in managing risk and compliance within a Payments organisation or environment
  • Experience in maintaining and continuously improving key risk and compliance frameworks and functional processes
  • Experience in leading, developing and empowering high performing teams
  • Successful achievement of complex KPIs aligned to business improvements
  • Robust knowledge of innovative improvement in line with external market risk and compliance management development and advancement
  • Working knowledge of Australian domestic payments with respect to foundational risk and compliance management practices
